Educational Programme for schools

The CCCS's activities focus deliberately on artistic exploration as it has been conducted in recent years, giving priority to multimedia vocabulary and to art forms designed to interact with their audience. Our educational programme for schools is designed to encourage students to forge closer links with contemporary art, allowing them to explore our museum space and to get the most out of their encounter with works of art. Every time we stage a temporary (mostly theme-based) exhibition, we pick out one or two works and create trails designed to offer students the chance to gain first-hand experience of the artists' work, forging greater awareness and sensitivity towards artistic creation in general.

This physical contact with the work of art is a way of arousing the students' curiosity, a way of prompting dialogue and an exchange of views within the group itself - a useful tool for improving self-knowledge and an understanding of the present. It is as though the work of art acted as a kind of magnifying glass trained on the world around us.

Workshop activities are held in one or two sessions according to the kind of work on show, occasionally using new production and image-processing technologies like digital photography and video.

Comprising permanent training activities and workshop sessions developed in the course of our temporary exhibitions, the Strozzina Centre's educational programme is thus constantly updated and expanded to complement our annual calendar of exhibitions. Our activities are held in an area adjacent to and communicating with the exhibition rooms, where a part of the educational experience is conducted.
