Traces of Time. Human figure and existential condition from Francis Bacon to the art of today

The exhibition, organized by the Centre for Contemporary Culture Strozzina (Florence, Palazzo Strozzi) in conjuction with the Dublin City Gallery – The Hugh Lane (Dublin), triggers a dialogue between the work of Francis Bacon and that of contemporary artists like Adrian Ghenie, Annegret Soltau, Chiharu Shiota and Arcangelo Sassolino, brought together by an intense focus on the human body and the topic of material decay as the expression of an existential experience. The exhibition will focus on a group of figurative paintings by Francis Bacon in conjunction with a selection of visual material from the artist’s studio archive now in the Dublin City Gallery and on display in Italy for the first time.
