Educare al presente / Education Project
“Educare al presente” is an education project designed by the Regione Toscana for upper secondary schools, consisting of thematic debates on contemporary art and culture held free of charge directly in the classroom.
Contemporary art can be a tool for reflecting on such crucial issues in today’s world as the environment and landscape, the economy and the financial crisis, democracy and participation, the Internet and social networks or migration and conflict. In exploring the work of contemporary artists, students have an opportunity to debate and to interpret the phenomena that forge the society we live in today, thus stimulating their critical skills as young adults and citizens. Educating for the Present allows schools to take a fresh look at the contemporary world.
The initiative is produced by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in conjunction with the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, in the context of the regional Cantiere Toscana Contemporanea scheme.
