FAMILY MATTERS. Portraits and experiences of family today
The exhibition presents the works of eleven international artists that encourage an investigation into the images, dynamics and structures that define the concept of family in the contemporary world. The videos, photographs and installations in the exhibition confront and deconstruct this concept, combining the autobiographical subjectivity of each artist with a search for a collective meaning, reflecting on those cultural, moral, ethical and biological ties that define and characterize a family. To speak about this topic is to reflect on the contradiction between the individualism of contemporary man and the persistence of social models and relational needs that find a fundamental nucleus in the family.
Artists: Guy Ben-Ner, Sophie Calle, Jim Campbell, John Clang, Nan Goldin, Courtney Kessel, Ottonella Mocellin e Nicola Pellegrini, Trish Morrissey, Hans Op de Beeck, Chrischa Oswald, Thomas Struth
