Zabriskie Point by Michelangelo Antonioni
(USA, 1970, ‘112)
The Zabriskie Point is the point of maximum geological depression in the United States. Here, cross the fate of two youths: Mark (Mark Frechette), a young runaway with a stolen plane, and Daria (Daria Halprin), a secretary. In the ghostly landscape of this place, the two spent long hours of love before resuming their escape. Masterfully directed by Antonioni, the film became the manifesto of the crisis in today’s society. It shows the impossible dream of those fleeing from money, consumerism, power, that can only be destroyed in one’s imagination.
