SPECIAL PROJECT / Boundary Line

Students of foreign universities and art academies in Florence present their own work as the result of a reflection on the themes of the exhibition. Organized by the Education Department of the CCC Strozzina.

On the occasion of the exhibition Unstable Territory. Borders and identity in contemporary art, the CCC Strozzina has developed the project Boundary Line aimed at students from foreign universities and art academies of Florence. The project, undertaken in collaboration with art instructors, has had the objective of initiating, within the different areas of study, a practical and theoretical reflection on the concepts of territory and borders analyzed in their numerous meanings: territory as geographical area, as a place of cultural belonging and identity, as a legislative space, as a field of knowledge, and as a metaphor.

The reflection on the proposed theme has been supported by the distribution of educational materials to the instructors, and has been investigated further in depth via discussions and debate within the exhibition spaces of Unstable Territory. Borders and identity in contemporary art, in order to offer a direct experience of the subject through the perspective of ten contemporary artists.

At the end of the study period and classroom work, the instructors have selected the most evocative and original works. The most significant work will be presented in a public presentation on Thursday, December 5th, at 6:30 p.m., within the spaces of the CCC Strozzina.
