It is certain that his From Dictatorship to Democracy is one of the most read books in the world, translated into more than 40 languages and available online for free. In a short amount of time, this manual has become the guide for many revoluationary movements against dictatorship. Inspired by Sharp’s suggestions, revolutions have erupted in Ukraine and Iran, Egypt and Indonesia, leaving behind the rubble of the past for a desire for the future.

Le Khmer rouge et le non violent by Bernard Mangiante
(France 2011, 90 min, v.o. sott. it. / eng. sub.)

One of the darkest pages of the history of the 1800’s is the one written about Khmer Rossi in Cambodia. Not too long ago, the process of that bloody regime and one of its principle actors were celebrated. Defending Kain Guek Eav, is a non-violent French lawyer helped by a young Cambodian assistant. This film tells of the encounter between these three stories involving a country that searches for memory and justice. An intense and impassioned encounter and outcome.
