The case of CREW.*
On the occasion of the nineteenth edition of the Festival Fabbrica Europa, the CCC Strozzina hosts a speech on contemporary performing arts with the participation of Eric Joris, artistic director of CREW. CREW is a company that operates on the border between art and science, between performance art and new technology. Artist Eric Joris develops his live-art projects in close collaboration with a collective of artists and scientists. Electronic and digital media form the basis of a unique artistic way of thinking and the engine for aesthetic experiences and reflection. This results in hybrid performances that question and redefine commonly accepted performative parameters.
During Fabbrica Europa CREW is proposing a workshop related to Terra Nova, a European project dedicated to the role of the spectator in contemporary performing arts. Terra Nova will then be presented at the Teatro Fabbricone (Prato) during Contemporanea Festival (September 2012). Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Fabbrica Europa e Contemporanea Festival partecipate in the curation of the project.
