The time of the cybernetic metropolis
The reflection of Antonio Tursi starts from the following question: what is the role of art in the ICT society? Or, more generally, we might ask what kind of aesthetic is born after the development of systems such as networks (Internet) that have radically changed the way we relate to the world around them. The computer world has required a reconfiguration of the concept of beauty and expressiveness of its applications in fields such as architecture, to which special reference will this action citing the work of Toyo Ito and Rem Koolhaas masters up to the younger Novak and Rashid .
Antonio Tursi deals with the relationship between new communication technologies and forms of expression and political. He received his PhD in Information Theory at the University of Macerata and is a senior fellow at the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology, University of Toronto. Among his publications include Aesthetics of New Media (2007) and Philosophy of Avatar. Imaginary, subjectivity, politics (2010, edited by Antonio Caronia). Con la grande mostra dedicata ad Ai Weiwei (23 settembre 2016-22 gennaio 2017) per la prima volta Palazzo Strozzi diventa uno spazio espositivo unitario che comprende facciata, Cortile, Piano Nobile e Strozzina.
L’arte contemporanea esce dalla Strozzina e si espande sia a livello espositivo che di comunicazione, in uno scenario in cui Palazzo Strozzi partecipa attivamente all’avanguardia artistica del nostro tempo.
