Public presentation of Fosca artistic search, on the occasion of
LIM_a project inspired by the parkour action

The cultural association Fosca has been working for years in contemporary art and cultural projects, especially performative, engaging local environments and inhabitants not only as spectators but as active participants. Fosca is a constantly-changing network that works in the reflection on contemporary culture through multi-formal performative and visual works. Fosca is not meant to be a determined group of specific partners, but as a transformative ensemble of collaborations and lives through different subjects, languages and fields, and dealing with the joining of the research on contemporary art languages together with education, social practice, human studies.

For the LIM project Fosca has worked on the idea of margin and limit, and on the possibilities of performative actions to overcome or going beyond this. This projects aims to investigate the possible merging between a more-and-more popular urban phenomenon like parkour and performative arts like theatre and ballet. Some artists have been engaged in the collaboration with youngsters and teenagers with the purpose of creating different kinds of artistic outputs. Different levels of limit, lim as mathematical symbol, but also as physical, geographical, emotional, existential or temporal limit. Here they achieve manifold levels of dialogue and creative making – among the artists, among the artists and young participants, among participants and citizens, among citizens and their urban spaces.

LIM is a project in collaboration with  Overcome and Parkour Florence, with the support of Unicoop Florence, Centro Commerciale Le Piagge, with the contribution of Regione Toscana, under the patronage of the Municipality of Florence – Assessorato alla Politiche Giovanili, winner of the contest Creatività in Azioni 2013, in collaboration with the City of Florence-District 5, Controradio, Section Coop Florence North West, il Vivaio del Malcantone.
