The novelists Michael Cunningham and Jonathan Lethem are the special guests of the CCC Strozzina for taking part to the project A VOCE ALTA - weekly meetings with plays and novels exploring familial themes read aloud in the exhibition.
In the rooms of the exhibition Family Matters, Cunningham and Lethem will be reading a few pages from their own celebrated works and from works by other authors, pondering the theme of the exhibition and interacting with their audience.
In collaboration with Bompiani, New York University and Festival degli scrittori – Premio Gregor von Rezzori.

Michael Cunningham, born in Cincinnati on 6 November 1952, is one of the United States’ most celebrated novelists and the author of such books as Flesh and Blood, Land’s End: A Walk in Provincetown, A Home at the End of the World and The Hours, for which he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and on which the famous film with Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Julianne Moore was based. Bompiani is due to publish his new book The Snow Queen on 25 June.
Jonathan Lethem, born in Brooklyn in 1964, is one of the United States’ leading writers and essayists and the author of numerous best-selling novels including Chronic City, The Fortress of Solitude and Motherless Brooklyn. He has won both the MacArthur Fellowship and the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction. His most recent publications (published in Italy by Bompiani) include a collection of essays entitled The Ecstasy of Influence, the novels Dissident Gardens and Motherless Brooklyn, and a paperback reprint of Gun, with Occasional Music.
Con la grande mostra dedicata ad Ai Weiwei (23 settembre 2016-22 gennaio 2017) per la prima volta Palazzo Strozzi diventa uno spazio espositivo unitario che comprende facciata, Cortile, Piano Nobile e Strozzina.
L’arte contemporanea esce dalla Strozzina e si espande sia a livello espositivo che di comunicazione, in uno scenario in cui Palazzo Strozzi partecipa attivamente all’avanguardia artistica del nostro tempo.
