| Neuro-science tells us that the mind indelibly stores all the information that it receives via the senses in the subconscious. Every perception is memorised and on occasion, even after a long time, it resurfaces in our conscience without our being able to predict when that might happen. Giulio Frigo's video installation simply turns the projector onto the spectator, who watches the projection through an opening in a wall. In the few seconds the video lasts, a human figure dressed in black appears, fading into obscurity like a distant memory. The images are projected straight onto the spectator's retina, turning him into a kind of living screen supporting the images and, at the same time, by injecting those images into the spectator's mind, the artist turns them into an integral part of the spectator possibly for ever – “through your pupil into your mind, until death do us part”. |
